The first thing that comes to our mind when we think of a positive relationship is that ‘she was there for me, in the good times and in the bad times, in my good moods and in my bad moods, in my pain and in my joy. He offered me love and acceptance, allowed me to be myself at all times and supported me with patience and understanding. She listened to my concerns over and over and answered the same question again and again. He cried with me or she pulled my sleeve to make me stop crying. He encouraged me and helped me stand on my feet. She reminded me of my strength and shared her strength with me. In this relationship I felt the trust and the safety/security to be myself, the compassion and not pity, the appreciation and respect.’
